Our Health Guarantee - Pawfect Bernese Puppies

Health Guarantee at Valvet Basset Hound

At Valvet Basset Hound, we prioritize the health and well-being of every puppy we raise. To ensure our Basset Hounds thrive in their new homes, we provide a comprehensive health guarantee that reflects our commitment to responsible breeding and transparency.

Our Guarantee Includes:

✅ Genetic Health Warranty – All puppies are vet-checked and come from health-tested parents screened for common hereditary conditions (e.g., hip dysplasia, eye disorders, and von Willebrand’s disease).
✅ Vaccination & Deworming – Puppies receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a thorough vet examination before going home.
✅ 30-Day Health Assurance – If a licensed veterinarian detects a life-threatening congenital or hereditary condition within 30 days of adoption, we offer a replacement puppy or refund (terms apply).
✅ Lifetime Support – We provide guidance on nutrition, grooming, and general care to help your Basset Hound live a long, happy life.

We stand behind every puppy we breed and encourage open communication with our adoptive families. Our goal is not just to sell puppies—but to ensure they become healthy, cherished members of your family for years to come.

Note: Detailed terms and conditions of our health guarantee will be provided in writing with each adoption. 🐶❤️

In the Unfortunate Event of a Debilitating Congenital or Hereditary Condition:

  1. Veterinary Examination: You must have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian of your choice within 72 hours, of receiving the puppy. This initial examination is crucial to establish the puppy’s health upon arrival.
  2. Notification: If your veterinarian diagnoses a debilitating congenital or hereditary condition within the guarantee period, you must notify us in writing (via email or registered mail) within 10days of the diagnosis. Please include a detailed written report from your veterinarian, including all diagnostic findings and test results, confirming the condition is congenital or hereditary and debilitating.
  3. Second Veterinary Opinion (at your expense): We reserve the right to request a second opinion from a veterinarian of our choice to confirm the diagnosis. This examination will be at your expense.
  4. Our Options: If the debilitating congenital or hereditary condition is confirmed, we will offer one of the following options:
    • Replacement Puppy: We will offer you a replacement puppy of comparable breed, sex, and quality from our next available litter, provided one is available. The return of the original puppy may be required, at your expense, and must be accompanied by all registration papers and health records.
    • Partial Refund: If a replacement puppy is not desired or available, we may offer a partial refund of the purchase price. The amount of the refund will be determined on a case-by-case basis, considering the severity of the condition.

Conditions and Exclusions of This Guarantee:

This health guarantee is subject to the following conditions and exclusions:

  • Routine Veterinary Care: This guarantee does not cover routine veterinary care, including but not limited to vaccinations after the initial set, deworming after the initial treatments, routine check-ups, parasite control (fleas, ticks, worms, coccidia, giardia), or minor illnesses that are common in puppies (e.g., colds, upset stomach due to dietary changes).
  • Preventable Conditions: This guarantee does not cover conditions that are treatable or curable with routine veterinary care or conditions resulting from accident, neglect, abuse, or improper care. This includes, but is not limited to, injuries, poisoning, malnutrition, or obesity.
  • Spay/Neuter: This guarantee is void if the puppy is spayed or neutered before  6 months of age unless medically necessary and documented by your veterinarian. Early spay/neuter can sometimes affect the development of certain conditions in large breeds.
  • Time Limitations: Claims must be made within the specified guarantee period.
  • Transfer of Ownership: This health guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
  • “Minor” or Breed-Related Issues: This guarantee does not cover conditions that are considered common in the Bernese Mountain Dog breed and are not debilitating, such as mild hip or elbow dysplasia that does not significantly impact the dog’s mobility or require surgery, entropion that is easily corrected, or umbilical hernias that are small and do not require intervention.
  • Veterinary Costs: We are not responsible for any veterinary costs incurred by the purchaser, except as explicitly stated within the options provided in case of a confirmed debilitating congenital or hereditary condition.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide your puppy with proper care, nutrition, and a safe environment.
  • Follow the recommended vaccination and deworming schedule provided by your veterinarian.
  • Provide regular veterinary check-ups.
  • Notify us promptly of any health concerns.

We believe in the quality of our puppies and are committed to responsible breeding practices. Our goal is for you to have a healthy and happy companion for many years to come. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our health guarantee.
